Photo Club
Upload Photo Club Assignments HERE!
Photo Club is available for 6th - 8th grade students. New Members are accepted at the beginning of the school year in August.
This club will explore many areas of digital photography. We will meet once a month until the end of the school year. It will be a hands-on club as we learn about composition, lighting, and different photography styles. You will need to have a digital camera to use at home for assignments and during club meetings…a DSLR is preferred but a point and shoot digital camera will be fine. There will be one or more photography projects each month that requires a photo submission from each student.
We will meet on THURSDAYS from 2:45 until 4 p.m. in Mrs. Hartley’s Art Room. There will be a $25 club fee to cover the costs of supplies and new club t-shirt. We will have our first club meeting in September. You will receive a list of all dates with the acceptance letter/email. To be considered, please turn in this form with your contact information. You will need a teacher to submit the attached recommendation form. We’d like to hear from a teacher that knows you.

Tara Spradley - taraspradley.com - 615-400-6563 or [email protected]
I am a local professional photographer with a strong connection to TFAA. My son attended here from 2nd - 8th grade and I worked in the front office for a number of years and even subbed a few years. I have helped lead the photo club since 2011. I have taken portraits at the school sponsored dances like Middle School and Daddy Daughter dances. I got my first camera as a middle schooler in the 80’s and it certainly changed my life.
Emily Hartley - [email protected]
Emily has been TFAA’s awesome Art Teacher for the past 5 years. She received a BFA in Graphic Design and a Masters in Instructional Practice. She is so creative and inspiring. She loves photography and especially loves sharing her love of photography with her students.
Haydin Oechsle - haydinolivia.com - [email protected]
Haydin is the original TFAA photo club member. She asked me to start the photography club when she was in 7th grade. She ended up starting her own photography business in high school and studied photography in college. She graduated MTSU with a successful photography business. She is so talented. Check out her website. You won’t regret it.
JT Spradley - [email protected]
JT is my 25 year old son and has assisted me in my photography business for many years. TFAA was a great middle school experience that lead to his skill as a guitar player thanks to Mr. Theimann, Mr. Swaim and Mrs. Caldwell. (Mrs. Caldwell suggested JT to Mr. Swaim to audition for Rock Band). It was a life changing experience for him. He has helped with the photography club since 2017. He subbed at TFAA in 2018 and 2019. Over the years he has branched out with his love for photography which led to three trips to Haiti in 2018 serving as a photographer for a non-profit that helps educate over 100 Haitian children.
