Artists and Illustrators and Lessons to Check Out!

Visit my Youtube channel to see all the sketchbook prompts I have created for this time at home. They are simple and only require supplies you already have at home. All lessons can be adjusted for any age level. Starting April 6th, we'll focus on a different element of art each week!

Lisa Congdon is an amazing current artist and former teacher. Adobe Create is hosting a series of videos with her teaching kids how to draw. Lisa likes to say she was pretty bad at art when she started out, but she had fun trying and now art is her career!

Mo Willems, author and illustrator of the Don't let the Pigeon Drive the Bus and Elephant and Piggie series leads kiddos in drawing lessons for creating some of his most beloved characters! Great way to practice expression in your artwork!

Author and Illustrator Dav Pilkey, of the Captain Underpants and Dog Man books series also leads lesson every Friday in creating some of his most beloved characters. Another great way to practice expression or telling a story with your artwork.

This is a great site to work on together as a family! All videos include a family working together creating art. There are loads of subjects on here, holiday, favorite characters, cars, etc. Something for everyone! This would be a great site to use for a fun activity you can do together as a family.

Cassie Stephens is a local art teacher here in Franklin, TN. She does a live lesson a couple days a week with each week having a different theme. Her lessons are for all ages and involve both 2-D and 3-D work as well as writing. She is also delightfully goofy and the kiddos love her!

Patty Palmer is a former Art Teacher who has created her own website of resources for students and for art teachers! She has also been doing weekly live lessons and her projects are great for trying out a variety of media as well as connecting your kiddo's artwork with world history and art history!

This page is just a great page your kiddos can use to unwind! They can learn to draw some of their favorite characters, animals or objects is the 'so cute' style. This is a style I see pop up a lot in students artwork and I thought they would enjoy practicing these drawings. Learning and trying out different styles is a great way for students to explore their creativity!
