A little bit about Art Class:
 
Kindergarten through Fifth grade students come to create once every six days! As budding artists, we explore drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, sculpture, fiber arts and more!
 
Sixth through Eighth graders who choose Art as an elective come to create every morning for a full semester! As young artists we explore drawing, painting, printmaking, clay, sculpture, fiber arts, digital arts, graphic design and animation. Students can choose from either a traditional Art Elective or a Digital Art and Design Elective.

Sketchbook Prompt #10 - Yayoi Kusama

This week we are learning about Artists! Today’s Artist is Yayoi Kusama. 1. Beginner Prompt- Polka Dots: Fill your paper with different sized Polka Dots. Color! 2. Experienced Prompt Polka-Dotted Object: Choose an object, fill the object and background with Polka Dots. Color!

Sketchbook Prompt #9 - Jen Stark

Jen Stark Inspired Prompts You will need a pencil and something to color with. Beginner Prompt: Based on Jen’s Paper sculptures, drawing concentric shapes and coloring with bright colors. Experienced Prompt: Based on Jen’s drip paintings, Drawing ‘drips’ and coloring with bright colors, accented with black. You can even cut these out and add multiple ‘drips’ together.

Line Bunnies - You will need a pencil and something to color with. Beginner Prompt: Draw a Bunny using different kinds of lines for details. Experienced Prompt: Draw a bunny and add texture using repeated rows of lines.

Sketchbook Prompt #7 - Line/Zentangle Eggs

You will need a pencil, a black pen or marker and something to color with. There are two prompts in this video - one for beginner artists and one for experienced artists. Beginner- draw an egg on your paper and decorate it with different kinds of lines: straight, wavy, zig zag, dotted, curly, dashed. Color your egg! Experienced- draw an egg on your paper. Divide your egg into 3 or more sections. Fill each of those sections with different line-based designs. You can use any combination of lines, designs and shading to fill your space!

Sketchbook Prompt #6 - Line Doodles

Line Doodles! You will need a pencil and something to color with! There will be 2 examples of this doodle shown in this video. Example one: Draw one continuous line across your paper. This means you do not pick your pencil off the paper. Outline that line and fill in with colors of your choice! Example two: create a simple drawing (for example, a house, tree, rainbow, or flower). Fill the inside of that shape with line doodles. Outline and color as you wish!

Sketchbook Prompt #5 - Bubble Letters

You will need a pencil and something to color with! 1. Draw your name or a word in all caps. 2. Trace around your letters in a Bubble Style. 3. Trace around one side of your letters and shade it in to create a shadow. 4. Add a highlight to the corner of each letter. Leave highlights white when coloring. 5. Add color to your letters and Background!

Hand Doodles! You will need: A pencil and something to color with! Trace your hand onto your sketchbook page, then turn your fingers into silly doodles!

Sketchbook Prompt #3

Abstract Shape Art You will need: A pencil, something to color with and stencils if you wish. Draw overlapping shapes on your paper! Color each shape a different color.
