I started teaching in 2004. That year, I taught 1st grade in Nashville before moving to Smyrna. I also switched to middle school ELA. Since then, I've taught ELA and Social Studies in grades 5-9. I've been at TFAA since 2007 except for one year as a high school reading interventionist. Teaching writing is my passion! Diversity, culture, history, and social issues are some of my favorite topics!
My own two children also attended TFAA. The best thing about our school is the close-knit atmosphere that you won't usually find in a large district. It truly is a Ramily!
I grew up mostly in the tiny town of Cornersville, Tennessee, but I lived in Houston until I was 10 years old. Talk about a culture shock!
I have four grown children - two stepsons, one son, and one daughter in college - and a handful of grandkids.
Though I've never really played sports, I'm a huge fan! I especially love Duke basketball and Yankees baseball. My husband jokes that he married into his "favorite" teams.
I enjoy curling up to read or watch a good show with my little dog, crocheting, podcasts and audiobooks, sight-seeing, and cruising!
