Clear Bag Policy Information for all Varsity Events at TFAA

Clear Bag Policy for Varsity Events
As part of an ongoing commitment to safety, Rutherford County Schools has implemented a Clear Bag Policy for all spectators attending varsity and middle school athletic events. This policy, shown in the graphic above, is designed to enhance security procedures and ensure a safe environment for all athletes, coaches, staff, and guests.
Effective immediately, Thurman Francis Arts Academy and all RCS campuses will enforce this policy at the following events:
  • Middle school basketball games (Varsity & JV)
  • End-of-season tournaments
✅ Approved Bags:
Attendees will only be admitted with bags that meet the following criteria:
  • Clear plastic, PVC, or vinyl bags, no larger than 12” x 6” x 12”
  • One-gallon clear plastic storage bags (Ziploc-style)
  • Small clutch purses no larger than 4.5” x 6.5” (non-clear allowed)
❌ Non-Approved Bags Include:
  • Backpacks
  • Camera bags
  • Diaper bags
  • Drawstring bags
  • Duffel bags
  • Grocery totes
  • Regular purses
🔒 Why It Matters:
This policy aligns with practices seen in major sports venues and is focused on preventing prohibited items from entering our events, while streamlining entry and maintaining a safe, family-friendly atmosphere.
🏈🎭🛡️
We kindly ask all students, families, and guests to familiarize yourselves with the policy before arriving at any event. Staff will not be able to make exceptions at the gate. If you arrive with a non-approved bag, you will be asked to return it to your vehicle.
At Thurman Francis Arts Academy, safety is our top priority, and we appreciate your cooperation in supporting this county-wide policy. Together, we can help protect the integrity of our events and the well-being of our RAMily.
