All About Me

My name is Brooke Feris, and I am entering my 14th year of teaching.  I taught 7th grade ELA for 8 years at both Antioch Middle School and LaVergne Middle School.  I stepped away from full time teaching when my first child was born and worked in a Mother's Day Out program two days a week where I spent the last 3 years as the Assistant Director of the program.  I returned to full time work six years ago at TFAA as an Educational Assistant and made the transition five years ago to return to the classroom full time. I spent the first 4 years as a Third Grade teacher here at TFAA. Last year was my first year in 2nd grade. I love coming to work each day and having the opportunity to work with the greatest team of teachers at TFAA!

I was born and raised in Nashville and attended Metro Nashville Public Schools.  I graduated from MTSU in 2001 with my BS degree in Elementary Education with a K-8 licensure.  I met my husband, Ryan (aka Coach Feris), while teaching together at Antioch Middle School.  We have been married for 17 years.  He is originally from Chicago and is a Marine Corp Veteran. Currently, he is a Wellness Teacher at Rockvale High School.  He is the head freshman football coach and assistant varsity wrestling coach and is a TSSAA Wrestling Official. He has coached tennis and golf, in the past, as well.

This is my first year that I am coming to TFAA alone. My children have both moved on to other schools. Lily is a freshman at Central Magnet and Jake is a 6th grader at Rockvale Middle. Lily is very involved in both school and community theatre. Jake is a lover of all things baseball.

As a family, we enjoy traveling to the beach and visiting my husband's family in Chicago. My favorite way to spend my time is watching sporting events, both live and on TV.  I am an avid Vanderbilt, Titans, Chicago Cubs, and Predators fan. I love to bake. My kitchen is my happy place. (Besides my classroom, of course! ;))

Thank you for entrusting your children with me.  My hope is that they walk away from 2nd grade having grown physically, academically, socially, and emotionally and with lots of great stories to tell!
